Wondr Smartlabs - Engineering Workshop - Build a Canoe from toothpicks & marshmallows.

Try this engineering workshop, where attendees learn how Native Americans built traditional canoes. Participants will construct model canoes using tooth picks and marshmallows. When we're finished we will also test them in water.

Wondr Smart Labs is a STEAM-based program that incorporates the Pequot culture. We currently do monthly sessions with Mashantucket Pequot Tribal (MPTN) students ages 4-18 at the MPTN Community Center and Child Development Center. We have also done Smart Labs sessions at UCFS in Norwich and at the Drop-In Learning Center. Our lesson plans are developed by our partners such as AISES (Advancing Indigenous People in STEM), the Connecticut Science Center, and the Mashantucket Pequot Museum

Free and open to teens & tweens ages 10-18.
