Mayo Clinic This site provides information about diseases and conditions, treatment options, and drugs. Its coverage of nutrition is very good. It also has a Symptom Checker feature.
National Library of Medicine's MEDLINEplus The National Library of Medicine and National Institute of Health's site, which includes information about diseases and conditions, current health news, drug information, directories of health-care providers and organizations, a medical encyclopedia, and a medical dictionary. It also has videos of surgical procedures and tutorials for medical and surgical procedures. The site is available in Spanish, and it includes material that is easy to read.
NOAH New York Online Access to Health is a joint project of the City University of New York, the New York Academy of Medicine, and the New York Public Library. The bilingual (English-Spanish) site covers a wide range of health topics. In addition to the usual diseases and conditions, it includes alternative therapies and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender concerns.
PubMed. PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 16 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources.It also has citations from consumer-health magazines. Some full-text articles are available free.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Part of the National Institutes of Health, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine does research on alternative therapies. Its Web site provides objective, evidence-based information about complementary and alternative treatments.
Children's Health
The American Academy of Pediatrics The American Academy of Pediatrics has a comprehensive site covering child development, diseases and conditions, child safety, and parenting, from birth toe age 21. It has information for both health professionals and lay users.
Go Ask Alice. The health question and answer Internet site produced by Alice!, Columbia University’s Health Education Program. It is an excellent resource for teens seeking information about sexuality, relationships, and drugs as well as general health topics.
GirlsHealth.gov The National Women's Health Information Center offers a site for girls covering topics such as body image, fitness, and living with a disability.
KidsHealth The Nemours Foundation publishes this site with pages for parents, kids, and teens. It offers information in English and Spanish on health and safety and other relevant topics, such as bullying. The kids and teens sites have interactive quizzes.
Senior Health
American Association of Retired Persons. The AARP provides information for seniors on a variety of topics, including health. It is especially useful for learning about Medicare, Social Security, health insurance, and drug coverage. The site has variable type size for the visually impaired and a Spanish-language version.
NIH Senior Health. The National Institute on Aging publishes an outstanding site for seniors. It covers health problems that seniors face, fitness, how to take medicines correctly and Medicare. Users may adjust the type size and the contrast. It also has audio so that they may listen to the information.
Women's Health
4Women.gov. The National Women's Health Information Center provides coverage of women's health issues, health organizations, and statistics as well as information in Spanish.
Our Bodies Ourselves. The Boston Women's Health Book Collective has launched a Web site as a companion to its classic book. It offers information that supplements the book with current news, links to relevant Web sites, psychosocial support, political concerns, and personal comments.
