March 11 - 7pm, Wheeler Library. Dr. Edward Bartick, Forensic Science professor at Suffolk University, will talk about forensic tools and methods.
"Everything You Wanted to Know About Forensic Science (Including the famous Connecticut 'Wood Chipper Case')."
Presented by Dr. Edward Bartick
Dr. Bartick graduated with a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Connecticut. Upon retiring from the FBI in 2007, he joined Suffolk University in Boston where he is currently directing the Forensic Science Program. Bartick has published numerous articles and book chapters and is highly regarded in the world of forensic scientists.

Basic Internet - Monday, April 5th, 6:30 to 8pm. This beginning internet class is for those who are just getting their feet wet on the internet. The principles taught in this class will work for Windows Internet Explorer. Skills covered in this class will include: reaching a website by typing in a web addresses, understanding basic terminology and toolbar buttons of Internet Explorer, using search engines to find information and websites, using other online tools and search features, evaluating websites and online information, and a brief discussion on the common sense of internet safety. If you are very new to using the computer it is highly recommended that you take the Basic Computing Class, below, first. This class will be repeated Sunday April 11, 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. For North Stonington residents - pre-registration is required.

In his presentation, "Lincoln at Two Hundred" Retired Chief Justice Frank Williams of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, a noted Lincoln scholar and author, will discuss Lincoln in American memory as we continue to celebrate Lincoln's bicentennial. Chief Justice will also comment on the many new books emerging on Lincoln's life and his place in American history and culture. Following his presentation, Chief Justice Williams will participate in a question and answer session which should be lively. All are invited, for middle school age to adult. Wednesday April 7 at 7pm

Saturday, March 20th from 9am to noon - Chicks and Eggs Felting - A combination of wet and dry felting techniques will be used to create chicks and eggs. For those who have wet felting experience or have taken the library's basic wet felting class. This class is for adults. Pre-registration required by March 16th. A $15 supplies fee to be paid at registration.

Basic Computing, Monday, March 22nd. 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This very beginning class is for those who wish to learn their way around Windows. The concepts taught in this class will work for all the commonly used versions of Windows from XP to 7. Skills covered in this class will include: using the mouse and keyboard, copying and pasting text, common menus and toolbars, an overview of computer hardware, and a brief discussion on safe computing tools such as anti-virus programs. This class will be repeated Sunday, March 28th, 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. For North Stonington residents - pre-registration is required.
