Upcoming Movies at Wheeler Library:

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT: “The Hobbit – an unexpected journey” (PG-13) – Friday, May 31st, 7:30.   Bring your favorite beverages, pillows, and pajamas for a fun evening at the library. Popcorn is generously provided by Regal Cinemas.

Registration for all story times and programs will begin on Thursday, January 3^rd.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  In the event of a school closing due to inclement weather, the library is also closed.  If there is a delay in school’s opening, the story time sessions will proceed as scheduled.

“Reading Together” -  (For babies and toddlers under age 24 months old with a caregiver) -  January 10, 17, 24, 31 and February 7, 14; 10:30 – 11:15am.  This session for the smallest children and their caregivers is designed to promote a love for books and coming to the library through the use of board books, playful songs, nursery rhymes, and finger plays with Miss Larae.  Also,   there will be time at the end of each weekly program for open playtime and socialization.  Registration is required and space is limited to 12 children.

“All Things Winter” – (For children ages 2 and 3 years old with a caregiver) – January 10, 17, 24, 31 and February 7, 14; 10:30 – 11:15am.  This session is developmentally appropriate for children who are starting to explore more concepts with books and nursery rhymes, while adding the introduction of practical social skills such as transitions, taking turns, and sharing.  Miss Denise will be reading seasonal stories about snow days, snowmen, Groundhog Day, and Valentine’s Day. Each session will also include an opportunity for an easy craft project.  Registration is required.

“Return to the Zany Zoo” – (For children ages 4 -6 years old) – January 10, 17, 24, 31 and February 7, 14; 10:30 – 11:15am. This session provides children the opportunity to read more advanced books with Miss Mary.  Our last trip to the zany zoo had so many funny animals to read about, so we decided to return to more crazy animal adventures for the winter!  What will those monkeys be doing to create chaos in the jungle?  How do little groundhogs fit into this cold, snowy season?  We’ll find out together at this story time!  The program will end each week with a craft or game.  Registration is required.

  Paracord Bracelet Workshop – Thursday, December 21st @6:30. Learn how to make these popular survival straps. Ages 8 to adult. A wide variety of colors will be available. $10 per person. Please register in advance.

“Fresh is Local” on Saturday, October 27^th,as the library holds the Town’s first farm to table dinner - A Local Affair - featuring meats, scallops, produce, honey, cheeses and other goods from a wide selection of local farms all prepared by the culinary talents at A Thyme to Cook accompanied by a selection of beverages from Jonathan Edwards Winery and local breweries. Art and other locally themed silent auction items will also complement the evening. Tickets are $125 per person for this multi-course sit down dinner event which takes place from 6-9:30 PM. Seating is limited.

Snakes of New England 

Whether you already love snakes, want to know more about them, or think you dislike them…this program is for you.

Linda Krulikowski will visit Wheeler Library on Monday, September 24 at 6:30 pm to talk about the Snakes of New England.  Linda will bring snakes to look at and touch, and will also discuss many amazing facts about snakes.  Join us for an interesting and inspirational program about snakes.  You might just learn to love them too!  Free and open to all.
