Kate is married to Robert Kappes and has four beautiful daughters: Caitlin (23), Siena (20), Ellen (10), and Shannon (9).  Prior to moving to North Stonington, the Kappes family lived in West Hartford, CT where Kate was an elementary school teacher for fifteen years.  She holds a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Hood College in Frederick, MD and a M.A. in Remedial Reading and Language Arts from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford.

Kate’s passion is working, in conjunction with parents, in the areas of early literacy, reading, and life-long learning.  She is thrilled at the opportunity to share her enthusiasm while becoming better acquainted with fellow North Stonington residents.
